Message from Rohna:

Hello colleagues,
We would like to show a slide show on the way we were and how we are today. I wold appreciate if you could sent in your latest photograph the way you want us to remember you. It may be a photo with your family, your beautiful home or garden or your favourite office.
Even if you are not coming to the dinner, the rest of the classmate would like to know how you are keeping these days.
Bye for now.
Rohna Ridzwan

So if you have any photos to contribute new or old, please email them over to Rohna.

The commitee will be having a meeting on Sunday to finalize the programme for the night. So far we have confirmed about 50 people (including spouses). Keep those responses coming in! TQ

Regarding the programme for the reunion, here is Malik’s reply:

Things are looking up. What is the programme like. Unfortunately Shangrila Putajaya doesnt have a field where we could organise some games on Sat evening, unless we go to Guoman in PD or Bukit Tinggi in Genting.
My brother in law who organises RMC old boys reunion, dont normally organises games, but they do come early for a cocktail drink, and talk about old times. The muslim guys/girls may break for maghrib prayers before continuing. They usually have a a sit down dinner, but a buffet for us is better for us to move around. Buffet dinner does (not?) last very long so it should finish in 1 hour.
During this period say 7.30 onwards (after maghrib) the official programme starts. Will probably start with a few speeches. I am hoping all of you can send pictures old and new, so that I can compile in power point, and play them as we mingle around. You can give a small speech as your power point presentation is shown.
The buffet dinner can start at say 8.30 or 9.00 pm.
We can a karoake if we want. Any other suggestions for the nite is welcome.
By the way, please book your hotel rooms directly to the hotel. I will check in on Friday 16 May

The (not?) is from me. Karoake? Haha, might be fun to see Ban Hup and Jamal sing again — remember our Year 2 talent competition?
Thank you for sending in updated email addresses. Will resend out the latest class database so that you can all help fill in some blanks, and hopefully more email addresses. Note that the current work place address is according to the MMC website — I checked out all our classmates names there.

Reply from Jaafar:

Have been reading all the correspondences. Am interested to join in but prefer to stay out. My house is only next door- Bandar Baru Bangi.

Message from Malik:

May I know how many want to book the rooms as I am afraid if the 40 rooms to be booked may be unoccupied. plus how many spouses/children. I am also thinking of getting an announcer which will of course add to the cost.

Please confirm the number of rooms needed by directly replying to Malik.
Thanks.

Got some more feedback, this one from Misbah:

Gosh YBH,
It took quite a few minutes to download the mail but I got both, thank you. Can’t believe how some people have not changed at all, esp you and kwee boon.
Am really looking forward to seeing everyone. Will definitely try and get leave and book tickets asap. Small problem is, am on hol the week before walking the scottish mountains. Will incur wrath of colleagues if take some more leave within same month. But hope they’ll understand 25 year reunions don’t happen every year!
great to see class of 78/83 in action again.
misbah

Another from Joo Kiong:

Besides the dinner itself on Sat night, is there anything else planned? I will have to catch an earlier flight back from Macau that Sat, and back to KCH on Monday evening.
JK

From Ban Hup:

I’ll be at the reunion. Always nice to catch up on “young” times.
Ban Hup

Finally from Chei Seng:

Friends,
Got the details. The earlier mail went to my “BULK” folder.
CS

Yes please check your Bulk folder if you can’t find the original email I sent out in your Inbox.

I was glad to receive some feedback to the emails I sent out 2 days ago. Will reproduce them here for the benefit of those not yet on the mailing list or whose emails bounced!
Joo Kiong was the first to reply:

Ah, finally some action. What happened to our Yahoogroup mailing list?
So the decision is at Putrajaya? What happened to the previously proposed Bukit Tinggi?
The timing is perfect for me, as I will be stopping by at KL to see my daughter on the way back from Macau/HK.
Just a note, a quick Internet search returns rates of US$130 nett.
Baring unforeseen circumstances, I will be there.

JK

Mary replied:

Great, Joo Kiong – forever the enthusiastic one!
We met at Boon’s place at Chinese New Year to make the final plans.
Hope that others will come too – 25 years is a long time – there’s lots to catch up on!
Thanks Christine for doing all the emailing – for everyone’s info, Chris will be the “secretariat” for our Reunion (looks like I was volunteered)
Happy New Year to all
Regards
Mary

Linda Teoh also wrote in today:

Great to hear from you after so long.
The last I met any of our classmates was just in early February when I met Ronald in Ward 5 of SJMC when my son was admitted for an operation.
I have to chair a glaucoma meeting on May 17 (unlikely to be able to change the date as we’ve arranged the program for ophthalmology trainees and have invited speakers from overseas too). The program is from 830am till about 6pm. I’m wondering whether I would be able to join any part of our reunion after that.
It would be great to meet everyone else after so many years.

Regards,
LT

Keep those reponses coming in!

am planning a trip back to kl to see frail mother. will try to book time to coincide with reunion.

cheers,
misbah

Wow, really good to hear from you Misbah. Sorry it took so long to get to your comment
Just as well you commented as it’s been 5 months since my last post, and no progress on our Class Reunion plans *ahem*
Time for another Meeting perhaps?

It has been awhile since my last update but am glad to say I received a few emails with updated contact details. Also received an email from Nor Shahidah today:

Yes am definitely going to try to make it. May next year seems so far away.
Actually I like Pangkor..the sea…but will follow consensus.

Yati and Co have already visited Colmar, and am awaiting a report on their trip there. Stay tuned!

Since not all of you are members of the Class Yahoo Group, I thought I should repost some feedback email about the upcoming class reunion over here.

Boon Hun writes:

Great idea! Will start making plans- apply for leave 1 year in advance.
BTW any grandparents yet in our class? How about some photos? Any plans to invite our lecturers (the surviving ones)? Quite a few have passed on. Like Prathap, etc. Maybe we could set aside a session to honour them, with photos and stories.

Ban Hup writes:

Next years Wesak Day falls on May 12th which is a Monday. We have decided to have the reunion on the Sunday. The tentative plan is to check-in (still looking at the place…we will be visiting a few places to decide which is the best over the next few weeks) on Sat and out on Monday.
So gals and guys, mark your calender for next year’s May 10-12th (Sat-Mon). You will only be excused for not coming if there is an earthquake in KL. Heck, next year I (and many of us) will be celebrating our 50th year in existence… is that a cause for celebration? (hahahahaha) …if we don’t meet now we will probably meet up next at a geriatrics class reunion!
Everyone can contribute by calling whoever you have contact phones to inform them of the dates and later the place. It’ll help in no small part to make our 25th Class Reunion a success. Thanks.

Joo Kiong writes:

May next year, okay. It will be without my older kid, he will be overseas, and maybe without the 2nd one as well. Would the school holidays in May/June be a better time, especially for those of us still with school going children?
Bukit Tinggi is okay, just a bit far for those of us needing to fly into KLIA and catch a taxi. I could rent a car I suppose. Or anyone got a spare car I can “borrow”?

Keep the feedback coming folks. Out of the 50 or so emails I sent out with our class database, 9 of the accounts are no longer available, 5 had full mailboxes. Don’t you all check your email? I know many tmnet and jaring mailboxes are full of spam. Perhaps it’s time to switch to either Yahoo or gmail, if you haven’t already done so. Please email me with your new addresses. TQ
